School Closure

Now that it is the season for cold weather we need to give advance warning that if there is a lot of overnight snow, please listen to Radio Shropshire, who give regular updates on any school closures. We will also get it posted on the Parents of Wistanstow School facebook page if we have to close.

In the event of heavy snow during the day, school will have to consider the safety of children (and staff) on journeys home. Please make sure that your contact details held at school are up to date.

 Mrs Hughes

Councillor Evans will be in school to present Mrs Hughes with a long service award on Wednesday 29th November at 2.30.

Anyone who wishes to say goodbye to Mrs Hughes is welcome to come and join us from 2 o’clock onwards. The PTA are organising teas/coffees and parents are contributing nibbles. Mrs Hughes last day will be on our trip to the PANTO.

For those who want dinners, Hattie will be putting on lunch for when the children return from Shrewsbury, which will be a bit later lunch than usual. The bus will be leaving by 9.15.

Science Club

Science Discovery club has now finished as we did not have enough pupils taking part this time.

Christmas Cards

All Christmas cards/mugs/tea towel orders have now been sent home and school has received £134 commission, which will be spent on some new fiction books. The children are so proud to have their designs used and see them printed officially, which was the main purpose of the project. Many thanks, once again, to all you parents who supported by ordering.

The Year 6 trip to Church Stretton Secondary School was enjoyed by all, especially the amazing classroom bus. The Church Stretton RE teacher popped in to see the workshop and was very complimentary about our children and commented how engaged the children were with the activities.

The Year 3 and 4 Design and Technology trip was also a great success. It is great that Wistanstow children have the opportunity to work with the Design and Technology specialist teacher; use their cooking facilities, plus the secondary school provide the transport for the trip. An added bonus is that the children gain some familiarity with the school building and the helpers are ex Wistanstow pupils that they can recognise and relate to. Lucy, Lewis and Joe were the helpers this time and my goodness, they look so grown up and were a great help on the day.

 Great Acheivements

A few of our students spent their weekend attending the Ludlow Swim Club Championships with some great results. In the 8 yr old category Evie got 1st in 25m backstroke and freestyle and 3rd in breaststroke. Alex got 2nd in her 50m breaststroke. Georgia swam brilliantly in all her races but was up against stiff competition. Super work girls!

It is Week 3 for Dinners
