Shropshire Music Service will be in school on Wednesday afternoons again this week. We have several groups learning drumming skills through the afternoon but more children have been asking if they can join too. There is a £5 cost to these sessions, as it is music lessons outside our curriculum music. Our after school African Drumming Club has started this week, from 3.10 until 4pm at a cost of £3.50 a week. Anyone wishing to take part should let the office know.

Church Stretton Secondary School

On the 3rd July, there is an open morning for Years 4 and 5 to have a look around the school with their parents. 19th June is Year 6 New Intake Day at Church Stretton.

Year 5 went to Church Stretton for the day on Wednesday for a Design and Technology session making clocks. Fabulous they were too. Apologies to parents for not giving prior notice of the trip, but this was a last minute arrangement on the day, due to some chopping and changing of dates by Church Stretton.

Hot Weather

Now we have some warmer weather, children are taking off jumpers and cardigans and it will make it much easier to reunite children with their clothes if their names are clearly written inside.

Keep an eye out for a questionnaire about the village hall play park in your child’s bag next week.The village hall committee are trying to raise some funds to re-instate the park at the village hall so please would you take a couple of minutes to complete the questionnaire. It asks if you can return to the Smithy Shop however you can also return to the school office or Julie (Eve’s mum in class 1).

Sun Safety

PLEASE remember our sun safety guidelines;

– children should have a drinks bottle available in school at all times, this can be refilled if necessary.

– hats should be worn in sunny weather, particularly at dinner time.

– sun cream should be applied before school and should be of a type which lasts all day. It is impractical to have bottles of cream in bags due to the danger of spills and leaks and there are concerns about children sharing creams in regard to allergies and hygiene.
