 Well Done!

Let’s get planting! Now is a great time to start planting seeds and dividing larger plants for the Plant Sale on the 9th of June.

 Cycle Training

During the first week after half term, all children will receive cycle training and your child has brought home a letter giving more information about the programme.

Year 5 and 6 will have their training on the 6th and 7th June and will train first on the playground and then on the road with trained instructors, in small groups.

Years 3 and 4 will complete their training on the playground on Thursday 7th June.

For the first time, we are going to include Bikeability Balance Training for Reception, Years 1 and 2 and this will be on the playground on 6th and 7th June.

Years 3,4,5 and 6 training is government sponsored and so is free.

The training for Class 1 will be paid for by the school from the sport budget.

Year 6

If you have a child in Year 6, they will take National Curriculum tests during the week beginning Monday 14th May.

Children have revision books and have brought home practice tests that they have completed at school. We have noticed that those children who are completing some revision tasks at home have become more confident at answering questions. It would be great if all year 6 could continue to do some extra work at home, but this should be a “little and often” approach and proper rest and exercise are just as important in the build up to the week of tests. Parents and children will receive the results towards the end of the summer term.

Monday 14th – English grammar, punctuation and spelling

Tuesday – Reading

Wednesday and Thursday – Arithmetic, Mathematical Reasoning 1 and 2

Year 2

Year 2 will sit their tests during May and are incorporated into normal classroom activities. The results of the tests are used alongside work children have completed during the year to make a judgement on children’s progress, which will be reported to parents towards the end of the summer term.
