The school has no provision for the care of poorly children. Should your child be taken ill at school we will telephone you to request that you collect them. In the event of accident or injury every reasonable attempt will be made to contact the child’s parents and medical help will be sought if necessary.
It would be much appreciated if sick children were kept at home, not only for the consideration of your child but also for the other children within the school.
Please tell the school as soon as possible about any infectious illnesses so that we can warn other parents e.g. German Measles, Whooping Cough, etc.
The school is not allowed to administer medicines. Advice from doctors states that a dose given before and after school is quite acceptable in treating most complaints. If a child needs medication at midday we would ask that parents come in to school to administer it.
The above information does not apply to those children receiving treatment for asthma/hay fever or other chronic or ongoing conditions.
You will need to inform the school that your child has asthma and note your child’s treatment. These details will be held on record in the school office. Forms are available for this purpose. The inhaler should be clearly labelled will be kept safely in the child’s designated medical box. It is important to ensure that they always have a fairly full inhaler in school and that it has not exceeded its ‘use by’ date.
